Chicago Gets Rave Review

Jen Chapman shared her thoughts on the show

Okay, I have just been lucky enough to go to the dress rehearsal of Chicago, put on by the absolutely incredible Amuri Players, and honestly... I am blown away! I knew it would be good, but I don't think I was prepared for just how good it was. The amount of talent we have in Hanmer Springs and around the Hurunui is just incredible! There was a live orchestra, and having all the music played live was absolutely fantastic. The singing was amazing, the dancing was incredible, the costumes were spectacular... honestly, at times I didn't know where to look! My eyes nearly popped out of my head at one point..... (You will know when you see it) 😂 But the biggest thing for me was that I just couldn't stop smiling. I came out feeling so emotionally energised and just completely in awe of what these people have created. And when you actually stop and think about everything that goes into putting on a show like this — the director, the performers, the orchestra, the lighting, the sound, the set design, the costumes and all the people working away behind the scenes — it is just phenomenal. For our little town of Hanmer Springs, and with people involved from right around the Hurunui and beyond, to be able to put on a show of this calibre is something we should all be incredibly proud of. So please, if you haven't got a ticket yet, go and get one! Support our local arts. Support the Amuri Players. Support all these incredibly talented people who have worked so hard to bring this show to life. Honestly... you need to go and see it! Congratulations to everyone involved. You were AMAZING! ❤️
